Matchweek 3

Well after a week in Barcelona and 24 hours of traveling in a very ‘Planes, Trains and Automobiles’ fashion, I’m championing a blog on a midnight train from NYC to Philly.

Picks and previews will be short and to the point as my brain is currently mush and I need to sleep more than I need City and the Eagles to go back to back this season.

Let’s see how this goes…

All-Time Record: 9-8-3 (-0.7 Units)

Matchweek 2 Record: 4-5-1 (-1.9 Units)

Not the best Matchweek last time around but you just have to keep sticking to the system and wait til you can get a read on these teams and matchups.

Let’s get right into it!

Saturday, August 25th

7:30 am

Man City @ Wolves – Do I even need to explain this one? City just won 6-1 when sitting 6 starters last weekend. Ride City til the wheels fall off. Man City (-1.5).

10:00 am

Cardiff City @ Huddersfield Town – That 6-1 City win was to this Huddersfield team and I like them to bounce back at home against arguably the worst team in the league this season. Huddersfield (-0.5).

West Ham @ Arsenal – Another London Derby for Arsenal here as their brutal schedule continues. They’ve had their worst start in over 20 years (only because they’ve played City and Chelsea) and I think they blow West Ham out here to prove a point. The Hammers blew a 1-0 lead last weekend and the Gunners know they need 3 points here. Arsenal (-1.5)

Everton @ Bournemouth – Everton are looking great under Marcos Silva and they go against a Bournemouth side who are due for a loss here after playing and beating two below average sides in West Ham and Cardiff. I love Everton on the pickem line here to exploit Bournemouth with their new potent attack. Everton (Pick -115).

Leicester City @ Southampton – Leicester will be without Vardy after his red card this past weekend, marking the first time this year they’ll be without him and Mahrez. I don’t think this team is ready to produce offensively without one of them up top (now only Vardy since Mahrez joined City) and I like the Saints at home to get at least a point. Southampton (Pick -130).

12:30 pm

Brighton @ Liverpool – Liverpool are too damn good at home and I expect Brighton to regress to the mean after their upset over United this past weekend. Even if it smells like a push, Liverpool is too good to fade here. Liverpool (-2).

Sunday, August 26th

8:30 am

Crystal Palace @ Watford – I like Palace a lot this season especially on pickem lines as they’re a team who can grind out results. Nothing changes here. Crystal Palace (Pick +110).

11:00 am

Burnley @ Fulham – Neither of these teams have had the starts they would’ve wanted with only one point between the two of them, that belonging to Burnley. But Burnley had to travel to Greece for a Europa League playoff match this midweek and Fulham need to get some points on the board and I think they do it here. Fulham (-0.5).

Chelsea @ Newcastle – I don’t like the juice on Chelsea here but I think it’s worth it. Yes (-150) is a lot but this is a Chelsea team that’s grinded out two wins and has covered in both of them and I intend on riding them until that stops. Chelsea (-0.5).

Monday, August 27th

Tottenham @ Manchester United – Three matches in and we already have a season-defining match for United. After feuding with players, their agents, the United board and the fans, Mourinho needs to regain control of his club. I just don’t think United are a good play here for several reasons. They’re ‘sit back and hit them on the counter’ strategy won’t work against a good defense and powerful attack like Spurs and I think nobody is happy in that locker room right now. Fade United until they figure this out. Tottenham (Pick +110).

Stay Kickin’ It. Peace.
